Principals’ Challenge Award:
A maroon ribbon is awarded to students who reach their personal goal (100 minutes of reading each day) and a white ribbon is awarded to all participants.
If the FPG student body achieves the two-week reading goal of 680,000 minutes, Dr. Bongarten will perform a Principal’s Challenge at the Read-a-thon Awards Assemblies on Friday, March 2.
Rita’s Reader Awards are awarded to:
- The teacher of the class with the highest per-student average number of minutes in each of two groups: grades K-2 and grades 3-5. The two winning teachers will each receive a gift basket valued at approximately $200.
- The student with the highest actual minutes read in each grade level. The six winning students each receive a special trophy and $10 gift certificate to the FPG Book Fair.
In addition, a plaque complete with photographs of the winners (the top student and teacher for each grade) will be donated to FPG by Rita Simon’s family to hang on the Read-a-thon Wall of Honor in the school lobby.
FPG Lion’s Pride Award is awarded to:
The class in each grade with the highest average number of minutes read per student. The winners of this award receive the grade-level Read-a-thon trophy as well as a pizza party for their class.
FPG Lion’s Roar Award is awarded to:
The student in each class with the most minutes read. These students receive a special medal.
FPG Best Paw Forward Award is awarded to:
A student in each class who put forth the best effort during the Read-a-thon. These students are nominated by their teacher and receive a special medal.
