| Friday, January 20th | •Road map document and pledge envelopes go home to parents •Kick Off Assemblies:
•At-home reading competition begins after school. |
| Monday, January 23rd | Classroom reading competition begins |
| Wednesday, January 25th | Read-a-thon Night: •Located throughout FPG – cafeteria, media center, primary wing, science lab, art and music rooms. •Media Center and music room will feature celebrity guest readers/storytellers. •Science lab will feature live animals from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. •A bake sale, donation booth and PTA spirit wear booth will be offered in the cafeteria. •Art room will offer a fun activity for both parents and kids. •Author Studies in the primary wing. |
| Monday, January 30th | Benefit Bash at Burger King on Jones Ferry Road. Begins at 5 P.M. and lasts until 8:30 P.M. FPG will receive 20% of the take. |
| Friday, February 3rd | Pledge forms and reading logs due back from parents/students. |
| Monday, February 6th | Final deadline for all logs. |
| Wednesday, February 8th | Room parents come to FPG to tally reading logs. |
| Friday, March 2nd | Awards Ceremony on “Read Across America Day” and Dr. Seuss’ Birthday! •Ribbons will be awarded in classrooms (red for students who meet individual goal and white ribbons for those who participated). •If reading goal is reached, we will have a Principal’s Challenge. •Recognize the following during ceremony – Lion’s Roar Award, The Best Paw Forward Award, Rita’s Reader Award (for student and teachers) and Lion’s Pride Award. |
| Friday, March 9th | Pizza party to top class in each grade. |
